Take it easy, pilgrim.

"Setting a kill rule to filter cross-posts is very effective. Many trolls
love the sheer effortlessness of adding newsgroups to the post line to
ensure they make a big splash. Making noises in one newsgroup is not
usually to their taste.
I've repeated below an extract from Tony Wright's excellent kill rules:
Begin:
Most of these rules apply to Turnpike users although there is stuff for
other users also.
A Lines: limit is recommended 300 - 500 should work fine and is readily
done in TP
The following are regular expressions that should work on any newsreader
with good regexp sup****t. The rules are explained in context.
/^Newsgroups:.*,.*,/h
(kills x-posts to more than 2 newsgroups - add .*, to make >3 ng)
OR
/^Newsgroups:.*,/h
(kills all x-posts)
/^Path: .*news\.alt\.net./h
(kills anything posted via Altopia)
/^Path: .*news\.teranews\.com./h
(Kills anything posted via Teranews)
/^Path: .*news\.easynews\.com.POSTED./h
(Kills anything posted via Easynews)
/^Path: .*news\.cyclonews\.com./h
(Kills anything posted via Cyclonews)
/^Path:.*news\.ambyte/h
(Kills both ambyte.co.uk and ambyte.com)
/^Path: .*news\.bubbanews\.com./h
(Kills anything posted via Bubbanews
/^Path: .*news\.meganetnews\.com/h
(Kills anything posted via Meganetnews)
/^Path: .*news\.value\-news\.net./h
(Kills anything posted via Value-News)
/^Path: .*news\.1usenet\.com./h
(Kills anything posted via 1Usenet)
For *bozo* posters who use the special email address
Someone <me@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
> then it is much more useful to kill on
the Username (Someone) rather than the email address as this will also
kill StuartB. So the following is useful:
/^From:.*Barry Bloomingflea/h
/^From:.*Compulsory Anonymity/h
/^From:.*Forsaken Lilylike Luigi/h
In general putting whatever is their Username between the * and the /h
will work. Just be careful that they don't try to use the names of
regulars. Forte Agent users may be able to filter on the From: or
Author: appropriately without killing StuartB. Anyone more familiar with
Agent please post exact rules.
I've heard the opinions of various people on killing on X-Newsreader:
and am aware that it is dangerous - you should not use the following
rules unless you fully realise it may kill newcomers and other people
that you may wish to see their posts. The following doesn't kill JoeH
and must be all one line and kills many bozo posts:
/^X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6\.00\.2800\.1158/h &
!/^j\.hutcheon@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Microsoft Outlook Express 6\.00\.2800\.1106/h &
!/^j\.hutcheon@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
(Joe - if you're going to change your email address then please drop me
a line and I'll post the changed rule.)
Kill Looney, Dim, etc. in the usual way on From: . However note that
Dim recently put quotations around his name so the following works much
better:
/^From:.*wimj@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
on References: is trivial to do but requires a consistent string
in the Message ID: of the referenced poster:
/^References:.*teranews.com>$/h
Kills on follow-ups to posts made through teranews."

way
it is." - Josey Wales
