Slide and negative scanner recommendations

I have finally decided to get out those old negatives and slides and scan 
them to digital for later videos, slide shows and prints.  I most have
35mm, 
but I do have some of parents negatives from the 50's that are larger 
format, like an old brownie style point and shoot camera with negatives 
about 2 to 3 inches in width.
Any suggestions?
