I am just starting to look into digital cameras.
My film SLR is a Contax so there is no real upgrade path for me. I figure
I will need all new lenses. (Most of my lenses were ya****ca with a couple
zeiss)
I figure I will save for a while and pick up a camera in the fall.
Sony sounds like they are going to have an interesting camera soon; It
will be even more interesting if it is in the Canon 5D price range ... we
will see what happens.
I wanted a 5D, but given that the a700 seems to be sealed up better for
dust and elements than the current 5D and the new FF Sony is supposed to
be an impressive 24MP assuming it is in the same price range as the 5D I
can see myself taking a chance with the Sony.
I want full frame, because I like to shoot wide landscapes and don't want
to get a 14mm to get 20mm equivalents. Canon has a 14mm I want but it is
2 grand from BH so that is more of a dream lens. I would rather put the
extra money into the body, get some less expensive lenses and get this
lens if I win the lotto.
I was originally thinking a Canon 5D but I am not married to a system as
yet. When Sony's FF SLR comes out I might jump on it but I have heard
that Sony cameras have quality issues and the same source thought Ziess
lenses are not what they once were. I noticed that Zeiss makes a couple
lenses for the Sony SLR.
What do you think of Sony's lenses? any good?
I like there older stuff and this really sounds like a dumb question, but
Zeiss newer lenses any good?
How about the quality of the Sony cameras?
I like the idea of IS lenses (Canon) rather than IS in the body (Sony)
but that aside any thoughts on which you would go with given that there
are no existing lenses to worry about?
Thanks,
Steve
