I'm new too - and like anything else - there's the art and the science in
it.
I'm currently learning the science first - learning my camera, color
correction,
sharpening, toning, etc - so hopefully it'll become mechanical. Hopefully
this
will facilitate the art part of it after a while - knowing what to shoot,
when to
shoot, how to shoot it, what is "good" color correction, what is sharp
enough,
etc. It's not a hard transition though, that is, learn "all" science and
"no" art,
and introduce the art later of course.
I've learned to play guitar, code in C++, design telecom circuits, ride my
mountain bike, etc. this way. So hopefully the idea transcends into
photography.
