Suggest you start with a basic photography class - perhaps a community
college nearby. There is more to photography than simply pointing the
camera somewhere and clicking the shutter release. Perhaps you need to
learn about composition, subject matter, . . . then worry about photo
editing. And for the record, there are many options besides photoshop -
several of which include most of the functionality and don't cost an arm
and a leg.
