Absolutely, but also practicality and economics must play a part.
Practicality = can you get 12-15mm (35mm) FOV equivalent with any larger 
digital format than 35mm?
Economics = will you ever print large enough to see the difference? 
Extra "cropping power" is a null point with wide angle.  (crop wide 
angle, and it isn't wide angle any more).
