Batteries Always Ready?

Hi, I'm looking to buy a good point & shoot camera for occasional use
only.  There may be times when I won't be using it for several weeks
or more than a month.  Is there a system with a charger that I can
leave plugged in all the time without overcharging the batteries so
that they will be ready when I need them in a hurry?
