Hard to say without the exif shooting data showing what the settings
were. Try some test shots in the same lighting & distances while holding
the camera FIRMLY down on a flat fencepost or table, or using the timer
to see if it's hand-holding shake problems. The 'unrealistic quality' is
almost surely due to noise reduction so check if that can be turned off
& make sure the ISO setting is as low as possible.
