I'm guessing it fails because it tries to access the USB ****t directly,
and XP/Vista prevent direct hardware access - you have to go through the
standard drivers. If you have to replace your PC you may be able to
install W98 and dual-boot it, but it's anyone's guess how a 10 year old
OS will cope with new hardware. I've seen mention of running the
software on W98 in a virtual machine, but the guy didn't say which VM or
host he was using.
