I think if you read a little further into the specs there are some
im****tant 
little things that are well worth having over the 450D.  The extra 2mp
isn't 
all that (really) and don't forget the 40D has the extra build quality 
(alloy casing for one thing).  I think that the 40D is well worth the
extra 
few £s.
