A non USA warranty could mean that if your camera stops working you 
may not be able to get it repaired by the factory rep. even if you 
offer to pay for repairs.
If you compare prices you MUST consider "all things being equal". Your 
camera shop sales person has given you an honest warning. If you are 
not an experienced camera buyer you can easily get stuck badly on Ebay 
or some unscrupulous camera store promising low prices.
