Large amount of VERY GOOD ADVICE snipped

Ouch! :-)

What you are saying to run a photography business you have to be good at
business AND photography? I think you may have over egged it a bit
but in general I would agree with you.

As you point out a lot of it will be dealing with clients and subjects
(who will largely be people) so people skills are also very im****tant.
Especial at weddings where EVERYONE is a photographer and family
politics usually intrude. (Aunt what-not is not speaking to cousin
so-and-so and so you can't put them together :-)

Also you can't do it with cheap kit. It needs to be reliable (so no
buying the cheapest memory cards or second hand lenses on eBay) You
need spares for back up etc. Lenses, flashes and camera bodies. You
will need at least two bodies If the camera fails on a shoot you can't
just go home. Many events are one off.

With modern zoom lens you don't need that many lens but a good ****trait
lens will be a must (most do MACRO too) for what you are suggesting. So
you are looking at I would think at least 3 lens

One photographer I know who does weddings and formal dinners has a
decent laptop and computer projector to show the photos to take orders
at the event. Not everywhere has a blank wall so you would need a screen
as well.

Then you will, as a pro, need a "dark room" even with digital
processing. Somewhere properly set up to work with controllable
lighting, a decent computer with large high quality screen and some
software. Not to mention a good printer and paper. I have a large south
facing window with venetian blinds and day light balanced lights
inside. Not forgetting you will need to calibrate the screen, printer
and scanner.

You will also need a good vehicle (smart, clean, with a large secure
trunk for all the camera kit) to turn up in and some decent suitable
clothes. No one likes a scruffy person providing a service. You can wear
jeans and t-****rt to a rock concert or car race but you need a suite and
tie or Tux for others, even as a photographer. So you will need a
"working wardrobe".

In fact the camera is only a small part of the picture...
