Overall nice pics.
IMHO, these photos come under the heading of "Pretty Pictures". They are
pleasant to look at, are the kind of shots you see on a free calendar or a
postcard at a vacation site. But there is nothing to really 'knock your
socks off', they don't have a hook that makes you come back and look more
closely. Examples of this would be well-known news photos, such as
soldiers
raising the flag on IwoJima, a fireman carrying a baby out of the federal
building, etc. Or how about high speed nature shots like the hummingbird
feeding with wings stopped in midair, or the drop of milk forming a
'crown'
as it hits the surface. These photos that I've described are memorable,
"Pretty Pictures" are not.
But they are pretty pictures, and there is a market for pretty pictures. I
go out somtimes to shoot pretty pictures, just as a kind of cleansing for
the mind and spirit. If you like shooting this kind of stuff, good for
you,
go do it!
As for specific comments: 2503-- needs a little bit more foreground. The
small amount of grass shown looks like an accident. Include a bit more and
it's on purpose. 2033 &1971-- just a tiny bit more depth of field, either
a
smaller f/stop or move further away and zoom in. 1862-- sorry, I don't get
it. Nice texture, but I have no idea what I'm looking at. 1666&1663--66 is
better because of the separation between the first and second boat. 1655--
sorry, I don't get it either. There is something there that wants to be
the
subject, but it's hiding.
Overall, they are nice work- my comments are mainly nit-picking. But
that's
a good thing, it means the basics (exposure, focus, composition) are
mastered. I hope this has been helpful.
