There are just so many permutations with inks/papers and make of printer
that only by testing yourself IME works.
Obviously the best starting point in own manufacturers and inks. However
if
you are with a photo group see if you can swap a sheet to try for a test.
One surprise recently was 50 sheets A4 glossy from Asda. A lightweight
paper
180gsm that was £5.97 but with an HP printer using Vivera HP inks it
produced amazing tonal range in the shadow to midtones. It does however
require careful handling and long drying times as the surface scratches
very
easily.
I also bought Fuji Multijet 270gsm gloss and was blocking in the shadows
and
very neutral tones. I had bought by necessity as that was all they had
when
I needed paper Kodak Ultima. The light fastness of this paper is
extraordinary. Colours are quite bright and punch though.
