Really this is theoretical. In practice it does not matter. I note
several camera magazines (pro and ammeter) have rated the Nikon D3 12MP
camera over the New 21MP Canon. Saying the increased MP of the Canon is
not really relevant.....

Not really. You can do many types of printing not just inkjet. Also
there are several types of Inkjet ink.

There is no comparison. You can make as many masters as you like and
copy them to any amount of media. The negative is more susceptible to
damage. Besides once the digital master is in an archive system (mine is
a mirrored raid system that has the disks replaced every 3 years) the
digital will outlive the negative.

I agree... many of the comparisons on digital V film are theoretical and
not of any real relevance in practice. Especially things like
"resolution" or there would have been a major outcry over the last 5
years as the vast majority of professional changed to digital and we all
noticed a drop in the quality of photographs.

I note the rubbish about "digital machine-gunning" when you can get
motor drives for most of the pro 35mm cameras..... A friend of mine can
take 30-60 minutes to set up for 3 shots. (Landscapes) He uses a digital
camera. The process has not changed from when he used 35mm. The
difference is he can do a LOT more in his "darkroom" than ever before.
Also he can do it "on site" so he has the chance to rectify any
mistakes.

Photographs fade as do digital prints. The difference is the digital
negative does not age.

I find I take as much care over taking digital photographs as 35mm....
though I don't have the pressure of the cost of the film/developing so I
now get more "experimental " pictures of the type I would not have taken
before.
