If only that were true, we might not in the mess we are.  In reality,
the majority of Americans were sufficiently ignorant of history or
positive that Their God Was Better Than The Iraq God that they would
win, and therefore it was a Good War.

Even now, 5 years into the fiasco, only 70% are against the war.

Makes me truly ashamed to be an American, but then I guess that is a
different post... :-(
