FP-4 is very forgiving.
So are the Russian rangefinders.
Look at the bit of paper that came with the FP-4.
It'll tell you roughly what exposure/shutter speed to set without a meter.
Have a go.
Well, that or buy an old Russian meter off EBay for a fiver...
