most of my house is Cat 5e through a router, but since both kids now have
lappies, I have set up an AP specifically for them, mac addressing, fixed
IP's and no SSID broadcast, the WiFi power is turned way down and if you
can
get a signal outside my front door your doing very well, whoever built my
house made it like a Faraday cage, to get a signal for a mobile, you have
to
be at a window facing the tower so a low powered WiFi signal has no
chance,
however in summer, under the shade of a tree in the back yard, browsing
the
web doesn't require anything more difficult to use than netstumbler.
