I've seen it. They had a few of them in Las Vegas this week, next to
the Samy's booth. Unfortunately, no prints. Just what you could see
demoed on a monitor.

There was no buzz or excitement at the booth. Mostly just curious
people picking one up, turning it around, and putting it down again.
Everyone is either Mark III or D3, with the exception of those of us
who prefer somewhat lighter cameras such as the 5D or D300 (you would
be surprised at how much difference it makes to arthritic wrists). The
general consensus among the most successful pros (those making more
than seven figures) was that the D3 and D300 have finally surpassed
Canon in noise suppression, but that the Canons are now slightly
sharper. Despite all the hype, very few seemed interested in switching
brands at this point. None of them were using medium format digital. A
few are still using medium format film.

In fact, I heard far more talk of switching from PC to Mac than there
was of switching from Canon to Nikon or vice versa.

As an aside, Kevin Kubota introduced his new actions disk. That got a
lot more interest than the the PhaseOne camera. In fact, it was almost
impossible to get anywhere near Kubota's booth.

Westcott's new strobe was selling extremely well, also; long lines
there, despite the fact that the strobe will not even ****p until some
time in April. And Expo/Discs were flying off the shelves. Even I
bought one. Color balancing with one of these produces such lovely skin
tones.

I would guess that speaks volumes about what the real pros thought was
im****tant. Some (especially the younger types) were even saying that
medium format is dead, but personally I am not ready to throw dirt on
the coffin.
