Rush Hour on Moreton Bay

by Cryptopixel <cryptopix@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Mar 23, 2008 at 04:02 PM

Vehicle ferries booked out, Water taxis ru****ng back and forth at 30+
Kph, with maximum passengers. What's the big occasion? There isn't
one. The "people" decided a bridge joining Nth Stradbroke Island (and
a few smaller ones) to the mainland was a bad idea.

So now we have these high speed catamarans zig zagging back and forth
around narrow channels because dredging in Moreton bay is now banned.
The bay is silting up at the rate of several inches a year. Already
the biggest of the big periodically get stuck in mud as the tide
leaves enough of the bottom exposed to walk between islands if it
wasn't so soft!
