Sorry to disappoint you AC but I did in fact play cricket.  Twice.
And I still disagree with you.  I'm not trying to knock it, it's a
great s****t, but for me personally I just find the game boring.
We use gloves in baseball because it's common sense....injuries, (and
by the way, I broke a thumb and a finger while wearing a glove and
catching a powerful line drive). Just as cricket players wear those
well-padded ****n protectors.  Does that make them sissies?  Of course
not.  It's just common sense.
As I said, it's all in one's taste, and one's opinion.

broken fingers are a rare occurrence in Cricket because the players are 
taught the correct way to catch, they don't rely on artificial aids like a

glove with an artificially enlarged target zone so yes I still call them 
sissy. Professional cricketers regularly catch sky balls while on the run 
and diving all without the aid of gloves, in fielders catch balls hit at 
high speed without gloves, often while diving etc. On the other hand 
Baseball players can accurately hit fast moving balls with a round bat and
I 
know from experience that its not an easy thing to do, both games have
their 
different skill sets, its just that using a glove to catch a ball inst one

of them.
The reason that Cricketers wear pads is because unlike baseball it is
quite 
legal for a bowler to bowl AT the batsman, if you can get it to bounce 
around their head and intimidate them then all the better. If a Pitcher
aims 
for a batsman and hits him, he gives away a base run, if a bowler hits a 
batsman, we tell the batsman to either hit it or get out of the way.
but I do have to agree with you, cricket is a game of patience and can
drag 
on, Baseball is fast and exciting by comparison :-)
If you get the chance and you can get it on cable TV, try and catch a game

of 20 Twenty cricket, the purists hate it but it is probably as fast and 
exciting as baseball, there is a major competition going on as we speak.
