Bingo. Once went on a business trip with an associate; he wanted to
take pictures on the trip. This guy was both highly technical and
affluent. I was surprised to see him about to buy several disposable
cameras, and instead suggested a small 35mm P&S.
His response was that he found ownership of a camera too onerous,
irrespective of cost or quality. Didn't want to worry about batteries,
or cleaning the lens, or even simply keeping track of where it was.
I see a lot of this. My sister was asking my advice on TV's, and I was
talking about service locations, frequency of repair, etc. She was
mystified - turns out she's never had anything smaller than a car
repaired in her life. She just throws it out and buys a new one.
