A 50mm enlarging lens will cover a 35mm negative adequately, but lots
of photographers like to use a lens that's "a size larger" than the
negative they're printing. Why? Because you're using more of the
lens' center "sweet spot."
This 75mm El-Nikkor Enlarging Lens was made for medium-format
negatives, (and will certainly do a good job with them), but it will
do an excellent job wilth 35mm negs. (You could also use it as a
taking lens for flat subjects-- it's front-threaded for filters, but
that's another story.)
The glass is perfect, the detents (click-stops) are snappy, and the
f-stops (from f4 to f22) are clearly indicated on the side in an
illuminated window you can see it in the dark. It comes with it's
original lenscap and a bottom screw-in case to protect the real
elements.
