You don't 'have' to live with Google. There's plenty of usenet services 
around but you have to pay for them. You get what you pay for - if you
want 
free access you have to put up with the crap. Personally, I use
gradwell.net 
which I'm happy to recommend (no I don't work for them). They charge less 
than £30/year for usenet access and you don't have to buy anything else
off 
them..
