Thanks to you (and everyone else) for your advice.
I shall fondle them both and then decide...

One last question - there are sellers on ebay like harbour48 (with lots of

good feedback) who sell stuff like:

Canon EOS 400D + AF 18-55mm + Canon EF 75-300mm AF Lens Digital SLR Kit
or
Nikon D40x + AF-S 18-55mm / 55-200mm
for around £420 or so.

I'm guessing they are returns. Good value?
