The only thing you have to watch is the absorbency of the paper and
consequent drying time. Epson works exceedingly well I will admit, but
it can take an hour to dry properly and always feels sticky. Canon paper
on the other hand dries fully in about ten minutes and feels smooth when
finished.
If not using Canon paper for 6x4 prints Fuji is pretty cheap and works
well as (again) does the Rex brand sold by Aldi/Lidl (can't remember
which.)
You will have great difficulty finding 10x8 photo paper - better buy a
good roller cutter and print at 10x8 on A4 and slice it down.
The Partner/Ryman (and as was Stationery Box) is about £3.99 for 25
sheets and they often do BOGOF. It is available in gloss, satin, lustre,
and matt and is generally around 200-220gm weight (as are most papers.)
If you can find any, paper by Felix Schoeller is some of the best I have
ever found, but I bought that in (I think) Germany. I have a box of
230gm inkjet paper (card?) - not photo - in front of me and it is just
soooooo smooooooth.
